Meet Ellie! (& Some Flea Market Fancy)

I don't know what possessed me to try making this elephant pin cushion the other night. I bought the pattern from Amy's shop a couple of weeks ago because I fell in love with the cover photo. I knew it'd be a challenge but... let's just say I definitely will not be making these little guys in bulk. Regardless of how difficult this was to make (for me), I love the finished product! And I'm now the proud of owner of a baby elephant named Ellie.

Isn't she the cutest?? She looks even cuter on my sewing table. I have been wanting a cute little pincushion like this for the longest time!

I'm also the proud new owner of a half yard bundle of Denyse Schmidt's re-released line "Flea Market Fancy"! I pre-ordered this bundle months ago when I first heard that it was coming back. It finally arrived while I was away for Spring Break. I had a happy little slip waiting on my door for me to pick it up. You better believe I'm hoarding these.

By the way, that cute little white crate? Target. Clearance $7! They have them in many colors so go get some. They're perfect for the craft room. Hope you have a lovely week. Happy sewing!!

As Of Late

First of all, thank you for all the positive feedback and kind words about my Love Bird Tote. I've been so incredibly busy lately, I haven't had much time to blog or respond to your comments/ emails. But they are all greatly appreciated!!

So what's been taking up all my time? Well aside from planning an upcoming camping trip, I've been teaching sewing classes and working on a crocheted baby blanket for my sister-in-law. In last week's class, we made these adorable card wallets (using Keyka Lou's pattern, which unfortunately is no longer available).

The girls in my class are hilarious and amazing. I find myself looking forward to this "girl time" that I get to have with them every other week. It's great to meet other ladies that are as passionate about fabric as I am! Speaking of which, I just couldn't resist snatching up these fabric bundles at Fabricworm this week.

Aunt Edna by Denyse Schmidt

Pezzy Pez by American Jane

I love anything and everything by Denyse Schmidt (I've already pre-ordered my Flea Market Fancy bundle!!) and how perfect are those great Pez prints? You can never have enough basics in your stash. Aside from sewing class, however, there hasn't been much sewing around here. I've been working on this little guy.

It's coming along slowly but surely. I can't wait to see it all finished. It'll be such a great feeling to get it done!

I want to give a quick shout out to Kendall from Songbirds and Buttons! I won a giveaway on her blog and received this huge package yesterday!

Thanks Kendall!! I love everything! You are so kind and generous.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I will continue to prep for this camping trip we're going on for Spring Break. We rented a beautiful cabin by the Guadalupe River and I'm so excited! What are your plans for Spring Break??

A Pink Laptop Case

I can't believe Thanksgiving is over :-(

Holidays come and go so quickly! Did you hit up the black friday sales yesterday?? I didn't wake up at a ridiculous time to check them out but my sister and I did visit the mall for a bit and I was able to score some Christmas gifts and a few stocking stuffers.

Today was a SUPER SPECIAL day! My little love turned 3 years old!! I can't believe time has passed so quickly. He is speaking in complete sentences now, he climbs ladders at the playground and he maneuvers his way around my iPad with ease. Why must they grow up so quickly?! We didn't do anything special today since we celebrated his birthday last weekend when daddy was home. But I did take him to my mom's house to help put up her Christmas decorations.

Anyway, before the Christmas Market, one of my friends had asked me to make her a custom laptop case for her Sony Vaio. Her only request was that it must be pink! I had no problem with that.

I used Kokka Trefle Stamps in pink and Laura Gunn Magnolia Lane Collection Painter's Canvas in Pink. It's super soft with two layers of cotton batting and fusible interfacing. I got pretty lucky that my Dell had almost the exact measurements as hers so I used it as a guide. I think I've figured out a pretty good formula to use for all sizes of laptops.

I'm working on an iPad case for myself using this Trefle fabric. I think I'm slightly obsessed.

I have two giveaways going on right now here and here. You still have a few days to enter so don't miss out! I'm also planning a HUGE giveaway for the beginning of December! I'll be announcing it on my Facebook page so head over and "like" me if you haven't already. Thanks to everyone who has participated so far!

My Thankful Giveaway

**GIVEAWAY CLOSED**

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I mentioned yesterday that I had a special giveaway lined up today as a way of saying thanks to all my wonderful readers who have added so much joy to my life. I'm really excited to have teamed up with Amy of Pinked Fabrics to bring you this great giveaway today!

Now, I know you've heard of Bonnie & Camille's newest line for Moda, "Ruby". It's a beautiful line of pinks, reds and aquas that has just the right amount of softness and femininity.

Amy has graciously put together a 1/2 yard bundle featuring three of my favorite prints for one lucky Pink Stitches reader!

Amy has been a huge inspiration and mentor to me this year, not to mention a total sweetheart! I'm so grateful for her friendship and her generosity. If you haven't checked out her blog yet, you should. She had me at "lots of pink here"!

So, how can you enter to win this lovely bundle?? Just leave me a comment letting me know what you're thankful for today. I'm thankful for my beautiful, healthy family and all of you!

I'll announce the winner next Thursday, Dec. 1st. Please leave your email address in your comment if it's not accessible through your profile so that I'll have a way to contact you if you win. And remember to be thankful everyday for what you have. Count your blessings! Have a wonderful day!!

Tiny TOMS & Camouflage

Life gets really busy down here around this time. We have at least two birthdays a week plus holidays back to back. One of the birthdays coming up is my neice Marley, who will be turning ONE on the first week of December. I wanted to show you these freakin' ridiculous little TOMS I got for her. I love that TOMS carries toddler sizes. Aren't they ADORABLE!?

These are size 4T. On top of being incredibly cute, TOMS also donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that you purchase. It's a win-win!

I finished up some custom orders yesterday including these iPad and iPod Touch cases. A customer wanted these for her Border Patrol hubby and requested camouflage fabric.

And I also received a new shipment of fabric from Pink Chalk Fabrics!! It always feels like Christmas when the delivery guy brings me fabric or supplies.

I got a little bit of everything from Echino to Metro Living. I got a few of my favorite prints from Outfoxed.

And I had to get my hands on some linen blend Trefle fabric! I think I'll be making myself an iPad case with the pink print.

I'm so tempted to hoard the rest but I must put it to good use! What do you think would be the perfect project for these?

I've got some great giveaways coming up in the next couple of weeks so keep a look out for those! Hope everyone is planning a nice Thanksgiving with your families. I love holidays that bring everyone together! And the food is great too (hehe!). Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Oh Em Gee!!

I'm sure you all know that the very coveted Denyse Schmidt's "Flea Market Fancy" collection has been out of print for awhile. Well you may or may not know that it is being RERELEASED!!!

I.AM.SO.HAPPY!!!

There is some bad news though... Only 20 prints are being brought back. I don't care! I'll take what I can get! I've seen so many amazing projects using this line that have made me drool.

Like this patchwork Kindle Case from The Sometimes Crafter.

And who hasn't laid their eyes on Angela's beautiful quilt!?

Gawlee! I'm ever so excited! There's another item added to my ever growing Christmas Wish List!!

Hope Valley

I finally got the nerve to cut into my Hope Valley stack. I want to try to make a queen size quilt for my bedroom but I'm not sure how that's going to work since I'm not thinking of using any sashing and I may not have enough blocks to make it as big as I want. We'll see how those plans end up in the days to come. I love this line. Even the scraps look pretty in my heart shaped trash bowl.

I've almost completed all my blocks. I'll probably finish the rest today. I was going to go with the traditional square quilt but then I saw another quilt that made me change my mind at the last minute. I will share my inspiration with you once I reveal my blocks. I don't want to spoil the surprise!

Have a great week!

How To Make A Simple Bow

**If you have used this tutorial or any others by Pink Stitches, please post your pictures on the Pink Stitches Flickr Group! I'd love to see your beautiful creations and feature some of my favorite projects!**

I just love girly stuff! Bows are right at the top of my list. I use them for everything! Today, I'm going to show you how to make your own.

You will need:
- Scraps of fabric measuring at least 4" by 6" (you can make smaller or larger bows, these measurements are just my preference)
- Cutting mat and rotary cutter
- Needle and thread
- Liquid Stitch (optional)

First, cut your scraps into a 4" by 6" rectangle.

Fold your rectangle in half, width wise. You're going to sew along the top and one side edge, using a 1/4" seam allowance.

Clip your corners and turn right side out.

Fold in the raw edge.

Top stitch along both side edges and press.

With your spare scraps, cut another rectangle about 1" by 2".

Fold this piece in half length-wise.

Fold your main bow piece accordian style. I use three folds in my bows.

Wrap the smaller scrap around the center of your bow.

Now grab your needle and thread and hand stitch the center strip from the backside of the bow.

If you're going to sew a safety pin to the back, do not cut off the thread yet. Just keep sewing the pin on and then tie off.

If you want and easier way or are looking to glue these bows to some hair clips, just use some liquid stitch to adhere the center strip to your bow. Don't worry, it dries clear!

Then just glue them to an alligator clip with a piece of felt.

Now make a hundred more and have fun with it!

You can use them for ANYTHING! I like to put them in my hair, attach them to plain shirts and sweaters, cuten up some belts, and they even look adorable on necklaces. If you're lucky enough to have a baby girl, these are perfect for little girls too!

Hope you enjoy! And here is some eye candy that I got on my birthday. I finally got my hands on the DS Hope Valley collection!! I want to make a quilt for my bed with these (hopefully).

And I couldn't help myself with some polka dots and some scooter Echino fabric *swoon*

Don't forget to enter my birthday giveaway for a chance to win this cute little zippered pouch. Deadline is friday at midnight!

Linking up to these great parties!
