Cutting into Aunt Edna

I cut into Denyse Schmidt's new line "Aunt Edna" to make a sample wristlet for my sewing class next week. I love the colors of this line. I rarely work with oranges and yellows but it was a nice change to the usual pinks and aquas around here. And the line is so perfect for spring.

Simple little patchwork design and quilting. My main focus in the class will be putting in the zipper, D-ring and lobster clasp. My class will be using one fabric for the main exterior but I wanted to show them a few variations of what they can make just by knowing the basics.

Using hardware in projects always makes them appear more difficult than they actually are. I love trying out different kinds.

I had some long strips left over after cutting out these tiny squares so I sewed them all up and made a cute iPad case for the shop.

How pretty are all those florals and plaids?? Speaking of iPads, the new iPad HD was released yesterday and I'm thinking about getting it. Has anyone gotten one yet? Is it much different from the iPad 2? Would you recommend it??

So I know I didn't include any green in today's projects (feel free to send me a pinch!) but you can't deny that these bright prints are pleasing to the eye! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Progress on Quilt

I'm really loving how these blocks are turning out. This fabric line is gorgeous!

I've finished 16 blocks so far, working during nap times and late into the night. I probably would have more done by now but I've been watching episodes of Felicity on Netflix and I'm hooked. The show totally takes me back to my high school/ college years. Good times...

I noticed my etsy shop is looking pretty empty so I'll be working on some more iPad and Kindle cases in between blocks. Here's one that I completed earlier.

My scrap bin is becoming pretty unmanageable so I'm going to be doing some patchwork cases in lots of colors. This one uses mostly purples and greys (one of my favorite combos).

I've listed it in the shop. I need to start using up my ever-growing pile of scraps. Time to hit the Pinterest boards for ideas! Enjoy your Sunday!

Tiny TOMS & Camouflage

Life gets really busy down here around this time. We have at least two birthdays a week plus holidays back to back. One of the birthdays coming up is my neice Marley, who will be turning ONE on the first week of December. I wanted to show you these freakin' ridiculous little TOMS I got for her. I love that TOMS carries toddler sizes. Aren't they ADORABLE!?

These are size 4T. On top of being incredibly cute, TOMS also donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that you purchase. It's a win-win!

I finished up some custom orders yesterday including these iPad and iPod Touch cases. A customer wanted these for her Border Patrol hubby and requested camouflage fabric.

And I also received a new shipment of fabric from Pink Chalk Fabrics!! It always feels like Christmas when the delivery guy brings me fabric or supplies.

I got a little bit of everything from Echino to Metro Living. I got a few of my favorite prints from Outfoxed.

And I had to get my hands on some linen blend Trefle fabric! I think I'll be making myself an iPad case with the pink print.

I'm so tempted to hoard the rest but I must put it to good use! What do you think would be the perfect project for these?

I've got some great giveaways coming up in the next couple of weeks so keep a look out for those! Hope everyone is planning a nice Thanksgiving with your families. I love holidays that bring everyone together! And the food is great too (hehe!). Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Pretty Patchwork

I can't tell you how good it feels to have things slowing down around here. I was able to enjoy piecing a lovely new iPad sleeve at my own pace. It's modeled after a previous case I had made for the Christmas Market, which turned out to be very popular! Remember this one?

I wanted to see the different effect it would have with brighter colors and patterns. For the patchwork, I chose fabrics in pink, turquoise, purple and chartreuse. I lined it with Kona Snow and did some simple lattice quilting on it. I must say, I'm really happy with this one!

Don't you just love those little owls peeking out from under the flap? I've listed it in my etsy shop. Remember, I am offering free shipping all week! Just enter FREESHIP at checkout.

And please check out my new Facebook page if you haven't already for sneak peeks, giveaways, and shop discounts! Have a great week!

iPad Sleeves

I've been sewing like a crazy person for the last few weeks in preparation for the Christmas Market. I'm sure I won't have anywhere near enough items to sell but I'll be taking custom orders (thanks for the suggestion!) so hopefully, I'll be alright. I've been getting a lot of requests for iPad cases so I thought that would be a good choice to have on hand at the market.

I had a lot of fun playing around with patchwork and quilting. I've made a few more since I took these photos. I'd love to make more when all this is over so I can give away as Christmas presents.

The Holly Jolly Christmas Market is in ONE WEEK! I'm really excited to try out my new toy.

With this Square reader you can swipe credit cards on your iPhone, iPad, or Android and have the funds deposited into your bank account the following day. It even emails receipts to your customers! Amazing! Best of all, it's free. You can find more info here.

I've also listed the scarves from my last post on my etsy shop for custom orders. But I won't be starting on those for another week, when all this madness is over lol. Hope you all enjoy your weekend and spend some time with your loved ones!

Linking up to these par-tays!
