Life As A Princess

I hope all you beautiful mommies had a great Mother's Day yesterday! You deserve it!!

I had an amazing day with my loved ones. My hubby never ceases to amaze me with his romantics and his thoughtfulness. He always treats me like a princess! I woke up to these!

He cooked a DELICIOUS brisket for me and my sister and mom. He did everything, all I did was sit there and eat... and eat and eat and eat. Afterwards, AJ took a nice long nap while we watched a movie and just enjoyed eachother's company. My favorite part of the day was when AJ took the flowers that my brother had given to my mom away from her and told her "Flowers for mommy". He ran over and gave them to me and said "Here you go mommy!" Aww, my little monkey! Such a little sweetheart, just like his daddy!

My gift is arriving in the mail this week. Know what it is?? FABRIC!! Eeeep!!! I'm actually going to attempt to make my first quilt. I'm nervous but equally excited!

Well I'm off to my momma's house. It's my brother's birthday today. I can't believe he's 17 already!! They (I have two younger brothers but I'm also throwing AJ in this category) need to stop growing up already. Have a great evening everyone!! XOXO

The Cutest Little Basket

I know I've got two more custom orders I should be working on but unfortunately they've been put on hold for awhile because we are waiting on some fabrics. So last night I was looking through some blogs and came across this tutorial on Pink Penguin's blog, which I had seen when I first started sewing but had quickly dismissed because I was too intimidated.

Boy was I wrong! This is the absolute easiest basket you can ever make. Ayumi is so thorough with her instructions and pictures that this fabric basket practically made itself!

How cute is this gorgeous little thing! Talk about a perfect gift for Mother's Day. You can just add a couple of knick knacks or some great stuff from Bath & Body Works and you've got the perfect little gift!

When I first saw this basket on her site, I thought it was a lot bigger. I was pleasantly surprised with the final result! It's perfectly miniature. Just the right size for gifting or having all over your house. And you can always adjust the measurements if you want to make a larger basket. Ayumi has so many tutorials on her blog and they are quite simple.

I'm so happy with my little basket. I know I always say I have to make more of the things I finish, but this is a definite must! There are a lot of important mommas in my life. What are you giving/making for your special mom??

Mother's Day Wishlist

I always look forward to Mother's Day. That day in particular makes me feel super special and appreciated for all the hard work I put into raising my little monkey. Even though AJ isn't in school yet or old enough to "make" me things, I love that my husband gets me gifts from the both of them. And he tends to spoil me on this day too (which I LOVE!). Here are just a few things I've been eyeing lately...

I love collecting two things: PURSES and WATCHES! This purple Fossil watch is not available yet but I'm dying to have it!

FABRIC!! I don't care what kind, although some designer fabric bundles would be nice (wink, wink). They're so purdy! Fabricworm.com has some fabulous choices.

Books! We have no bookstore in this city. Can you believe it? We made national news! The only CITY in the U.S. with no bookstore! So I have to do all my book buying online or wait for out of town trips. My book list has grown. I love the convenience of ebooks but there's nothing like holding a book in your hands and placing it in your bookshelves when you've finished reading it. I'd love some good sewing/craft books and I've also been wanting these books for the loooongest time!

I mentioned I love PURSES! I am droooooling over this Anthropologie Petal Pouf Bag! Honestly, any single thing from Anthropologie would make me SUPER happy. A gift card would be perfect!!

What momma doesn't love getting flowers on Mother's Day! Despite what some girls might think, flowers are NOT a waste of money. Not in my opinion anyway. They make me happy and they make my house look and smell pretty. With flowers around, I'm always in a good mood!

Anything in my Etsy Faves posts would be awesome too! Hmm, maybe I should email this list to a coupla people (hehehe). What do you want for Mother's Day??

Etsy Faves #1

I couldn't sleep last night so naturally, I took a stroll down Etsy and did some window shopping! I have been seeing some really great shops that sell beautiful, UNIQUE jewelry. So I'm gonna share a few of my faves today!

First up, HeatherKent. She hand paints these beautiful necklaces! These are just some that I love, she has so many!

Another one of my faaaaves is The Blue Balloon. She has amazing vintage inspired pieces that make me drool!!

I just love AgHalo. If you're looking for cute novelty pieces, this is the place to go! She handcrafts all these beautiful pieces out of sterling silver! She has something for EVERYONE!

Finally some good ole handstamped jewelry at Rose Creek Cottage. There are literally hundreds of handstamped jewelry shops on etsy but this is just one that really caught my eye.

I think any one of these shops will have the perfect Mother's Day gift for your momma! Right now is the perfect time to order! Happy shopping!
