A New Fall Bag

I'm taking a break from all the Halloween posts to show you my new fall bag. I had been hoarding this gorgeous Anna Maria Horner print for something special and decided it was time to cut into it.


I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I paired it with a new print from her Field Study collection. I love how easy it is to mix and match all of the AMH lines.


I got the pattern from this book. It's called the Floral Bag and it's really easy. I think I like it because it's very similar to my Hellen Bag. This is the "small version" and it's quite big so I can't even imagine how huge the "large version" is.


I also finished my fall quilt top this week! Wooo! It took me a few months to finish the blocks but since I didn't get to go to Sewing Summit, I decided I might as well be productive and get them done!


I sewed up a quick patchwork backing yesterday so it's all ready to be basted and quilted. The pattern is called Skipping Squares by Cluck Cluck Sew. I'm so excited to pull it out of the dryer and snuggle up with it! Hope you're having a great Sunday!

Crochet Therapy

AJ and I have been sporting colds for the past several days. That's the thing about living in south Texas. Our bodies get so used to the heat that they are totally thrown off track when we get a few cold days. Needless to say, I haven't really been wanting to be confined to my sewing machine but I couldn't just sit here and be idle. I only have one week and a half before the Christmas Market! So I picked up my crochet hooks and got to work.

I've said this many times before but crochet is so therapeutic for me. And I love the portability of it. I can relax on the sofa and watch cartoons with my son. I can sit outside on the porch and watch him play. It's just so relaxing.

I will be offering these three styles of scarves at the Market and also through etsy (after the market) for custom orders. Please message me if you're interested. Apparently, it's already freezing in places outside of Texas. I've even heard that there's something called "snow" in many parts of the world. Haha! I hope you all are enjoying the weather, whatever it may be!

Update & Some News

I miss my little blog! I have been working non-stop on making items for The Christmas Market. I fear I may not have enough merchandise on time. The event is in two weeks! Have any of you ever participated in a craft fair? How much would you say is enough? I feel like I'm running around in circles. I don't really know what to make or how much to make of each item!

I have been out of town this past week too. My hubby had a three day meeting in Corpus Christi and I tagged along. We went the whole weekend before too so we could enjoy some time together. I had fun taking lots of pictures with my new iPhone! Here is my favorite one.


This is my very first iPhone so it was kind of a big deal for me. But that's not the news I wanted to share with you.

Scrap Buster Fall Pillows

I'm in love with my new fall pillows! Well one is for me and I made the other one for my cousin, who happens to share my fondness of fall and holidays in general. Since it was a birthday present, I let her have first pick. She chose the one on the left.


Hers has the orange polka dot backing. Mine has a soft green damask print. Both have envelope closures (easiest thing in the world to do!).


If you're interested in making some for yourself, I got the tutorial from here. The only difference in mine is that I made them 18" instead of 16". I just added two inches to all the measurements given.

A Fall Quilt

We have been enjoying the beautiful weather and rainy days around here lately. This past weekend, I started on a fall quilt using my Joel Dewberry "Heirloom" collection that I've conveniently been saving.


I kept telling myself that this fabric was too beautiful to cut into but I just loved looking at it so I said "Why not make a happy fall quilt out of it?". I used Cluck Cluck Sew's "Skipping Squares" pattern.


I finished the quilt top in two days! It uses 9" blocks in 8 rows of 6, equaling 48 blocks. Perfect size for a cozy throw on the couch.


This marks my third quilt and little by little, I am gaining more confidence. I am super excited to make a Christmas quilt! Any ideas on cute fabric lines I could use?
