The Bella Pouch (& A New Toy)

I got a new toy a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed playing around with it. This Fujifilm Instax Camera has been on my wishlist for quite some time now and I decided it was time to get one!

I love the vintage look that these wallet sized pictures have and it's so fun getting to see them instantly! It doesn't have a digital screen so you never really know what's going to develop after you snap a picture. It doesn't have a professional finish but if you're looking for a fun camera to take to the beach or just enjoy in your backyard, this is it!

I needed a pouch for it and couldn't find any cute patterns anywhere so I made my own! This is my very first pattern that isn't all squares and rectangles. I drew the pattern pieces myself and added darts for a nice round finish. The result: The Bella Pouch!

My Instax camera fits snuggly inside and I even added a roomy pocket to hold all my pictures on the go. Although it's the perfect size for this camera, I think it would also be a cute clutch or bag for any camera. I'm working on writing up a pattern for it and will have it available soon. (Pattern now available!)

I'm also working on a new free tutorial for you guys. It's something that I've received many requests for! Here's a hint: It's something I named after my mom. Can you guess what it is??

Lately

This is going to be sort of a boring "work in progress" post. I don't have anything complete to show you but I have been working on quite a few things. My sister is having a baby at the end of July and I have been assigned a baby quilt. This is straight from my sister's head (and Pinterest boards). She bought some organic fabrics for me to work with that are based on the color scheme she has planned for the nursery and drew out what she wanted me to make with them. I have never worked with just solids before (or organic fabrics for that matter) so this was a little out of my comfort zone. But I like it.

She wants me to add some grey borders to the top and bottom so we'll see how that turns out. I've also been working on some bags for myself. I am making another 241 Tote (pattern here) using some Echino fabric. I've made five bags with this pattern and still have not had my fill of it. I also bought this book last weekend at B&N and am trying out a cute bag I saw in it using the yellow pearl bracelets fabric I recently got my hands on.

Other than that, I've been working on brightening up my craft room. I saw this picture at Target and just had to have it. I also put up some patchwork stuff on the walls and draped my heart string lights on my desk. I wish I could repaint these walls but my husband insists that there are a million other projects in the house we must attend to. So that'll have to wait.

I'm excited to get it all done so I can show you the entire room. There are still a few minor changes I want to make but so far, I'm happier with my cleaner work space. Hope your week has been productive! Have a great day :)

Happy Mother's Day

First off, I'd like to wish all you mommies a very Happy Mother's Day! You deserve to be spoiled today for all the hard work that you do for your babies!! My siblings and I took my mom out to breakfast this morning and I am beyond stuffed!

So last night, after I got home from Corpus Christi, I had the itch to sew something quick and pretty. I pulled out some of my favorite fabrics and used Jeni's drawstring bag pattern (I used the project bag size) to make a pouch for my ever growing pile of selvages.

Fabrics Used:
Fly a Kite by October Afternoon, Flea Market Fancy by Denyse Schmidt, Summersville by Lucie Summers and Sunkissed by Sweetwater

I just love those green seeds! I could seriously buy the entire bolt. I've been spending a lot of time cleaning and organizing my craft room. My fabrics are finally organized by color and I'm working on making more pouches and baskets to fill my cubbies.

I'll have more pictures to show you as I continue to set things up. We just finished moving the furniture around last week so I've still got to put things up on the wall and get a few more things set out. Feel free to send me mini quilts or cute wall decor!! haha

And now, for the winner of the PrintRunner Giveaway.... Random.org chose lucky #2. Congratulations Kendall! I'll contact you soon for your snail mail info! Have a great day!

Traveling in Style

I'm off to Corpus Christi again this weekend. This time for my cousin's graduation! I completed my Multi-Tasker Tote just in time. It's the perfect size to use as a travel bag. It fits my hair dryer, hair straigtener, make up bag, toiletry bag, and still has plenty of room for my camera and lenses. I also made a cute little boxy pouch for my cosmetics. It was my first time making one and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

I used fabrics from my Flea Market Fancy stash for both projects. My absolute favorite fabric from this line is the posies in brown. So I used that as the main exterior for my bag. I threw in some dots and seeds for the pocket panels and lining. This bag is just adorable. I really recommend it. You can find the pattern for sale at Amy's shop, Pinked Fabrics!

Ofcourse, I can't show up empty handed. I made my cousin this pillow cover and threw in some hair bows. I wrapped this in this cute owl craft paper that I found at the World Market last time I was in Corpus Christi. I must remember to go there again, they have such cute stuff!

Don't forget to enter the PrintRunner giveaway if you haven't already! It's open until Sunday night when I return. Have a fun weekend!
