A Few Things

I got a lot done this past week.

Finished up another gathered clutch to match the Picnic Hellen Bag.
I used Anna's tutorial.

The set is going to a good home this Christmas :-)

Completed some more ruffle scarves for a custom order.
It's kinda hard to photograph scarves just laying there...

And I made an iPad case for myself!
I rarely do this.
I love sewing for other people but I hardly ever keep anything for myself.
I just had to have a piece of this fabric!

I used the same Kokka Trefle fabric in pink that I used for my friend's laptop case. But this time I paired it with Michael Miller's Ta Dots in Fuschia. Love! I ordered some more of that print on Black Friday. Can't wait to receive it.

Working on a bunch of projects at once for the next few weeks.
I've got swaps, presents and giveaways to work on.

Today is the last day to enter My Thankful Giveaway! All you have to do is leave a comment and you could win a Ruby fabric bundle!! I'll announce the winner tomorrow. Good luck!

A Pink Laptop Case

I can't believe Thanksgiving is over :-(

Holidays come and go so quickly! Did you hit up the black friday sales yesterday?? I didn't wake up at a ridiculous time to check them out but my sister and I did visit the mall for a bit and I was able to score some Christmas gifts and a few stocking stuffers.

Today was a SUPER SPECIAL day! My little love turned 3 years old!! I can't believe time has passed so quickly. He is speaking in complete sentences now, he climbs ladders at the playground and he maneuvers his way around my iPad with ease. Why must they grow up so quickly?! We didn't do anything special today since we celebrated his birthday last weekend when daddy was home. But I did take him to my mom's house to help put up her Christmas decorations.

Anyway, before the Christmas Market, one of my friends had asked me to make her a custom laptop case for her Sony Vaio. Her only request was that it must be pink! I had no problem with that.

I used Kokka Trefle Stamps in pink and Laura Gunn Magnolia Lane Collection Painter's Canvas in Pink. It's super soft with two layers of cotton batting and fusible interfacing. I got pretty lucky that my Dell had almost the exact measurements as hers so I used it as a guide. I think I've figured out a pretty good formula to use for all sizes of laptops.

I'm working on an iPad case for myself using this Trefle fabric. I think I'm slightly obsessed.

I have two giveaways going on right now here and here. You still have a few days to enter so don't miss out! I'm also planning a HUGE giveaway for the beginning of December! I'll be announcing it on my Facebook page so head over and "like" me if you haven't already. Thanks to everyone who has participated so far!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I mentioned yesterday that I had a special giveaway lined up today as a way of saying thanks to all my wonderful readers who have added so much joy to my life. I'm really excited to have teamed up with Amy of Pinked Fabrics to bring you this great giveaway today!

Now, I know you've heard of Bonnie & Camille's newest line for Moda, "Ruby". It's a beautiful line of pinks, reds and aquas that has just the right amount of softness and femininity.

Amy has graciously put together a 1/2 yard bundle featuring three of my favorite prints for one lucky Pink Stitches reader!

Amy has been a huge inspiration and mentor to me this year, not to mention a total sweetheart! I'm so grateful for her friendship and her generosity. If you haven't checked out her blog yet, you should. She had me at "lots of pink here"!

So, how can you enter to win this lovely bundle?? Just leave me a comment letting me know what you're thankful for today. I'm thankful for my beautiful, healthy family and all of you!

Ready to Give Thanks!

Are you ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow? I'm so ready to put on a few pounds. Not that I need them because I surely don't, but I'm going to pack them on anyway! We only do this once a year after all. And I am definitely going to make the most of it. My plans are to have a Thanksgiving lunch at my mom's house around noon, then head over to my grandma's later in the day and do it again! Looking forward to my mom's stuffing, my sister's apple crisp, and my grandma's tamales. Yuuuum! I wanted to make a little somethin somethin for my grandma so I whipped up these crocheted pot holders last night.

I think the harvest-y colors are just right for Thanksgiving. And I'm liking the solid look as opposed to the striped ones I made last time. I used this pattern.

I am so thankful for SO MANY things this year. I have a beautiful, healthy family. I've met so many amazing friends through this blogging/crafting community. This blog has served as a creative outlet and given me something to look forward to every day. I'm thankful for all my mentors that have helped me learn so much this year. And I'm so so thankful for all my readers who have supported me, helped my blog grow and made my day with all your lovely comments and emails. I have a very special giveaway lined up for tomorrow to show my gratitude. I'll give you a hint: it involves fabric!

And you still have time to enter this giveaway with As Hue Wish. You have up to 8 chances to win $25 to her shop! Giveaway ends Nov. 29.

Have a wonderful, blessed day tomorrow! Enjoy your families, give thanks, and fill your bellies til your heart's content!

Tiny TOMS & Camouflage

Life gets really busy down here around this time. We have at least two birthdays a week plus holidays back to back. One of the birthdays coming up is my neice Marley, who will be turning ONE on the first week of December. I wanted to show you these freakin' ridiculous little TOMS I got for her. I love that TOMS carries toddler sizes. Aren't they ADORABLE!?

These are size 4T. On top of being incredibly cute, TOMS also donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that you purchase. It's a win-win!

I finished up some custom orders yesterday including these iPad and iPod Touch cases. A customer wanted these for her Border Patrol hubby and requested camouflage fabric.

And I also received a new shipment of fabric from Pink Chalk Fabrics!! It always feels like Christmas when the delivery guy brings me fabric or supplies.

I got a little bit of everything from Echino to Metro Living. I got a few of my favorite prints from Outfoxed.

And I had to get my hands on some linen blend Trefle fabric! I think I'll be making myself an iPad case with the pink print.

I'm so tempted to hoard the rest but I must put it to good use! What do you think would be the perfect project for these?

I've got some great giveaways coming up in the next couple of weeks so keep a look out for those! Hope everyone is planning a nice Thanksgiving with your families. I love holidays that bring everyone together! And the food is great too (hehe!). Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Holiday Crayons Tutorial

I had this last minute idea for holiday crayon sets to sell at the Christmas Market last week. They were so fun and easy to make, your toddler can help!

**If you have used this tutorial or any others by Pink Stitches, please post your pictures on the Pink Stitches Flickr Group! I'd love to see your beautiful creations and feature some of my favorite projects!**

All you need are some crayons and silicone cupcake trays in any shape you can find. I had gotten the heart shaped one at Target last February and I found the gingerbread man tray at Walmart.

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees while you peel all the wrappers off your crayons. Then break them into 1-2 inch pieces. Distribute them evenly into each mold in your trays. It's up to you how thick you want them. Bake them for 10-12 minutes until crayons are completely melted. Do not stir!

Carefully pull them out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. If you're impatient like me, you can pop them into the freezer for a couple of minutes before popping them out of the tray. Be especially careful removing the gingerbread men. I had a few arms and legs break off. It's ok though, you can use a lighter to "glue" them back together and then put them back in the freezer for a bit.

Aren't they adorable?? Your kids will love them!

Want to make some quick stocking stuffers? Just fold a piece of wax paper over a couple of crayons, stitch around the three open sides, and stick a gift tag sticker on it! Pair it with a mini coloring book and you're all set!

I hope you enjoy making these with your little munchkins this holiday season! AJ will be giving these out to all his cousins and friends on Christmas. Hopefully I can get him to write his name on them. He's in the process of learning his alphabet.

Pretty Patchwork

I can't tell you how good it feels to have things slowing down around here. I was able to enjoy piecing a lovely new iPad sleeve at my own pace. It's modeled after a previous case I had made for the Christmas Market, which turned out to be very popular! Remember this one?

I wanted to see the different effect it would have with brighter colors and patterns. For the patchwork, I chose fabrics in pink, turquoise, purple and chartreuse. I lined it with Kona Snow and did some simple lattice quilting on it. I must say, I'm really happy with this one!

Don't you just love those little owls peeking out from under the flap? I've listed it in my etsy shop. Remember, I am offering free shipping all week! Just enter FREESHIP at checkout.

And please check out my new Facebook page if you haven't already for sneak peeks, giveaways, and shop discounts! Have a great week!

Christmas Market

Well, the long anticipated Holly Jolly Christmas Market has come and gone. I literally feel jet-lagged right now. Even after taking a two hour nap with my 3 year old, I am exhausted! But I also feel relieved and happy.

This is what my table looked like on the first night.

I changed it up a bit on the second day to better display my remaining items.

I didn't get a chance to take my camera out very much. Most of these pictures were taken with my phone! Overall, it turned out to be a fun, rewarding and learning experience. I met some of my "online buddies" in person for the first time and made a lot of new friends! Plus, I walked out with a few hundred dollars. Not bad for my first craft fair!

I'm planning on listing all the items that I didn't sell on my Etsy shop sometime tomorrow. I am dedicating the rest of the week to my poor, neglected little house. It looks like Taz paid us a visit- an absolute mess! Looking forward to the storm settling down a bit around here before Thanksgiving and AJ's birthday. Good times ahead of us! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!
